At Classic City Orthodontics, we believe that orthodontic treatment can enhance your smile in many ways as part of your global dental plan. A global dental plan is one that includes all aspects of your dental needs and treatment performed by all of your dental professionals.
We consider your General Dentist to be the “head coach” of the dental team and it is our job to coordinate our treatment plan with the plan of the dentist. A complete global dental plan can include treatment by more than one specialist, so easy and complete communication is key to our and your success. Remember, you are always in control of your treatment, and it’s our goal to educate you so that you might make a decision that addresses your desires.
The first step in this journey is listening to your concerns and identifying orthodontic issues, then discussing them with your entire dental team. Your team will design a preferred plan, and sometimes alternative plans, followed by discussion with you. The treatment plan is simply creating a problem list, a solution list, and a plan of attack.
Orthodontics cannot correct all dental problems, and often we require help from your dentist and other specialists to complete your cosmetic and functional outcome. Restorations by your dentist can address many issues and may include crowns, bridges, fillings, implants, veneers, and dentures. Other specialists such as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Periodontist, or Endodontist could be a part of your dental team.
While some restorations might be considered “cosmetic,” the design that we use for your smile include as many choices as possible, and your decision affects the design we create for your bite alignment. Even cosmetic dentistry requires that your bite be designed properly so that your investment is protected for years to come. We will convey the importance of your treatment design, as well as how choices that you make may influence the long-term health of your smile.
We will confirm your global dental design with all members of your dental team prior to starting orthodontics, and we will act as a reference during treatment.
As we near the end of your orthodontic treatment, we will require the written approval of your entire dental team prior to removing orthodontic appliances. Doing so may require that you visit each member of your dental team for evaluation. We will coordinate details with them so that your result can be as perfect as possible.
We all have to keep the goal of a “perfect smile” in mind. Perfection cannot be rushed without consequences, so taking time to ensure that every aspect of your global dental plan is addressed pays off greatly once your smile is complete. You will know that it did every time you smile….and THAT’s why we work so hard for you. It’s our privilege and mission to do so.
